Great Tribulation 13: Solar Flare and Micronova

There was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth . . . and every mountain and island was removed from its place. (Rev 6:12,14)

Previously . . . The Antichrist destroyed the Vatican in Rome, then proclaimed himself the Mahdi-Messiah. The Two Witnesses humiliated and challenged him on global TV.

Throwing Down the Gauntlet

In Jerusalem, on a crisp January morning, the Two Witnesses suddenly appeared on the Temple Mount. Their arrival caused an immediate stir, and a news camera quickly focused on them as they began to speak.

Graybeard raised his voice, "Hear the word of the Lord, all who dwell on the earth!"

His companion, Redbeard, continued, "A plague of sores shall come upon those who bear the mark of the beast!"

Graybeard pointed directly at the camera, his eyes blazing with intensity. "Let it be known that every person who has taken Hussein's mark will be afflicted with painful, festering sores that will not heal!"

Redbeard added, "This is a small taste of the judgment to come. Repent and turn from your wicked ways!"

In unison, they declared, "For on the Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur, the Lord God Almighty will destroy Hussein and his armies!"

Graybeard concluded, "Choose this day whom you will serve. The time is short, and the Lord's return is at hand!"

With that, they vanished as suddenly as they had appeared, leaving the crowd in stunned silence.

When Hussein saw the broadcast, he flew into a rage. "How dare they threaten me!" he shouted. But even as the words left his mouth, he felt a sharp pain in his cheek. Touching it, he found a pus-oozing sore had appeared. Simultaneously, a searing pain shot through his left heel, making it difficult to walk.

"Get my doctors immediately!" he roared to his staff. But despite their efforts, neither sore would heal.

Furious and in pain, Hussein barked orders to his generals. "Prepare for war," he commanded. "Gather every nation's armies at the Valley of Megiddo by October 1st. Bring your most devastating weapons. We'll see who's almighty!"

Plunged Into Darkness

On April 4th, at Hussein's headquarters, his chief science advisor requested an emergency meeting with Hussein and his inner circle.

He said, "An X80 solar flare just released from the sun, and it's going to destroy every global electric grid, and most electrical devices on the planet, in approximately 36 hours."

Hussein asked, "What's the impact?"

"Nothing electronic will function. There'll be no modern cars or trucks, no airplanes, no phones or radios, no satellites, no gas pumps, no cash registers, no ATMs, no computers or Internet, no--"

"Okay, I get the message. Nothing with electronics will work."

Hussein's chief of Staff said, "Should we warn the public?"

"No, they'll just panic, and there's nothing we can do for them."

"What about our various critical government resources around the world?"

"Send a classified message and tell them to execute our Continuity of Government Plan, effective immediately."

"Yes sir."

"Also, send another message to our generals around the world. Tell them I expect them to do whatever it takes to be here with their forces on October 1st—even if that means they have to requisition all the horses in their nation, or walk. That's how the Romans did it."

Around the world, Hussein's staffs and select military units gathered their families into secure underground bunkers, popularly known as Deep Underground Military Bases. There, they could live securely, with all the provisions they'd need for up to a year.

Outside, up to 90% of the public would die within a year from starvation, bad water and sanitation, and criminal violence.

The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in anguish and cursed the God of heaven for their pain and sores. They did not repent of their deeds. (Revelation 16:10-11)

Signs in the Sun

In Beaver Creek, their ham radio stopped working on April 6th. Otherwise, the Christians had no idea a solar event just killed the electricity around the world. They were already off the grid, so there was no real impact for them—except for their radio.

Life in Beaver Creek went on normally. They were all busy with homestead chores, such as: gardening, chopping firewood, building, cooking and cleaning, fishing, and food preservation.

In the first week of May, Katie and Rachel noticed the sun was no longer a bright white color. It had a reddish tint.

They approached Peter as he chopped wood, with nobody else around, to ask him what he thought.

"I've been wondering how long it would take people to notice it. I've been watching it for about a week, to see how fast it was happening."

Katie asked, "To see how fast WHAT was happening?"

"At the university I taught astronomy and earth science, but my hobby was correlating the science of catastrophism with Bible prophecy."

Katie and Rachel leaned forward, interested to hear more.

"I believe we're seeing the initial stages of a micronova."

Katie's and Rachel's eyebrows furrowed. They looked at each other, then back at Peter.

"Jesus told us the sun would be darkened before he returns. He said there'd be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations because of the roaring of the sea and the waves. He said people would faint with fear because of what's coming on the world. I think a micronova is coming."

Rachel said, “What’s a micronova?”

He continued, "A micronova is a small, but intense explosion on the surface of a star. They're usually very brief, lasting only a few hours. Here's the typical sequence a micronova goes through.

1. The star turns red, then black.

2. Then the star will send out cosmic radiation and what the ancient myths call a cosmic thunderbolt, consisting of both an electrical charge and physical matter, into the earth. When this occurs:

• People facing the sun will be scorched and radiated. The Bible says,

The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was allowed to scorch people with fire. They were scorched by the fierce heat, and they cursed the name of God who had power over these plagues. They did not repent and give him glory.  (Revelation 16:8-9)

• Electricity from the sun will arc into the earth, probably in Europe. Inside the earth, this electricity will super-heat and unlock the earth’s crust from the mantle. We think this electric current will exit out of the earth in the western pacific, somewhere near Japan.

• Once the earth's crust is unlocked, the earth’s continents will float free. Then, the centrifugal force of the earth’s rotation will move the heaviest continents outward, toward the equator."

Katie asked, "How can we know which continents are the heaviest?"

"The heaviest ones are the two continents with the most ice, Antarctica and Greenland. They'll move to the equator, becoming tropical once again, while India and Peru will become the new polar ice caps."

Katie and Rachel were gobsmacked.

"The Bible says toward the end of the tribulation there'll be great earthquakes, and every island and mountain on the earth will be moved from its place. Scientists have proof that micronovas hit the earth in a repetitive 12,000 year cycle, and it's been 12,000 years since the last one, so we're due for it. And, as you both observed, our red sun is a sign that it's near."

Katie asked, "How long will it take for the continents to move? Thousands or millions of years?"

"No, it'll happen in a couple days."

"What! How can that be possible?"

"Good question. Think about the mammoths in North America and Siberia. When the last micronova struck the earth, it happened so fast they got flash-frozen. They were found in with undigested grass still in their mouths."

"The rapid continental shift will drive massive overnight temperature changes, as polar regions become tropical, and tropical regions freeze. These drastic temperature changes will generate violent storms, severe lightning, and hurricanes. Even worse, the world's oceans will be displaced, producing mega-tsunamis that wash over all the continents. Every place under 1000-2000 feet of elevation will be flooded by tidal flows, tsunamis, and backwash for days, until the land masses stop moving and the seas can settle again. This continental shifting and flooding has happened many times, which is why we find seashell fossils in Nebraska and on Mount Everest."

"Millions of people will die when all these things happen, and many species of plants and animals will be unable to adjust—they'll go extinct. For example, tropical sloths and snakes will freeze, and polar bears will suffocate in the equatorial heat."

"Finally, the micronova's strong solar wind will push meteors and asteroids from space into the earth's atmosphere. The Bible says,"

Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?” (Revelation 6:15-17)

Katie said, "Can we know when a micronova is about to happen? And, what can we do to prepare for it?"

Peter said, "When the sun turns from red to black, its micronova is imminent. That's our trigger to get as high up the mountain as we can. If we can find a cave near the mountaintop, it would protect us from the blast of intense cosmic radiation and falling meteorites. Otherwise, we'll need to dig something like a bomb shelter up there. And, we should stock enough supplies to stay there for a few weeks at least."

The earth staggers like a drunken man (Isaiah 24:20) 

On August 2nd the sun turned from red to gray, which triggered the Beaver Creek Christian Community to move up to their new 'Nova' shelter.

They couldn't find a suitable cave, so they dug a long, three-sided shelter into a steep hillside on the North side of the mountaintop, at the 2600 foot level.

They chose the North side because it was mostly shaded from the sun by the mountaintop behind them, giving them added protection from the expected heat and cosmic radiation of the sun's blast.

They used thick logs to support a strong log roof, then added two feet of dirt onto the roof for added protection against radiation and meteorites.

Since they expected its purpose to be fulfilled long before cold weather arrived, they left the North side open, giving them a million dollar view of the islands and fiords far below.

Children wove green saplings and twigs to build simple partitions between each family's section of the shelter, giving each family a small sense of privacy and personal space. Families also made camp chairs, tables, and simple beds from sticks, small logs, and paracord.

They had communal meals and a rotating work schedule, and everyone took turns doing the undesirable jobs.

By August 4th the sun's face was black. Light still emanated from its outer corona, which provided half a normal day's light at noontime.

Micronova

Just before sunrise on August 5th, as the first rays of sunlight barely peeked over the mountaintop behind them, the whole world lit up, brighter than at noontime, instantly waking everyone from their sleep.

Katie heard one sleepy child ask, "Who turned the lights on?"

"This is it!" Peter said. "Everybody, stay under the roof to protect yourself from radiation. The brightness should subside in a few hours."

Katie thought out loud, "It's about noontime on the East coast, so they're getting the maximum exposure from the sun. If it lasts until noontime here, we'll be getting its max strength."

"That's right Katie," Peter agreed, "let's hope it stops before then."

Katie heard and felt a low-pitched growling and vibration emanating up from the earth below. It was constant, and increasing.

For the next three hours the earth complained, filling the atmosphere with loud creaking and groaning. They weren't really earthquakes. They were more like deep rumblings.

Sometime in midmorning, with the sun's light intensifying, earthquakes started, then grew more violent until nobody could stand without holding onto a wall.

With every jolt of the earth, dirt showered onto Katie and Rachel from the roof overhead.

Katie prayed, "Lord, help this roof to stay intact. Let it protect us from the sun and not collapse onto us."

I think the quakes are about the 7 or 8 level on the Richter scale.

Katie heard kids and a few women wailing in fear, their patience exhausted. Husbands and fathers tried to calm and comfort them.

I don't blame 'em. I wanna cry too.

The strong earthquakes continued, relentlessly. Then, a severe jolt struck the earth, showering the last of the dirt onto the saints below and twisting their roof.

Katie looked up to see sunlight through cracks between the logs.

"That had to be a 10 plus." Rachel said.

Katie saw hundreds of giant tree trunks snap and topple in the forest below.

"Oh, God," Katie prayed, exasperated, "Let this be over!"

Moments later, the constant shaking reduced in intensity.

The quaking's down to a 6 level. Tolerable.

She looked at Rachel, "Thank the Lord. Hopefully, the worst is over."

At 11:46 the micronova’s brilliant light ended.

Looking out to the North, it looked like a normal day at noontime.

The ground continued quaking at about the 6 level. A person could walk, but it wasn't easy, or safe, with the ground quaking and jerking.

Peter spoke loud, above the earth's groaning, "I think that big jolt was the crust releasing from the mantle. If I'm right, the earthquakes we're now feeling are caused by the friction of North America moving to its new location on the planet. When it finally stops, we'll see where we end up."

Then he added, "The cosmic radiation danger should now be over. Our next threats are flooding and falling rocks from space over the next three days."

Flooding

As he spoke, Katie looked down to see the seawater in the cove retreating.

Pointing down at the cove, she said, "Look Peter."

Peter smiled, "Okay, it looks like we're on a moving continent, and we're moving away from the water's normal direction of travel as the earth spins. So the water wants to keep moving in that same direction. However, after it floods the land somewhere else, we can expect it to come back to the cove as a backwash after a short period of time. And when it comes back, it'll have more water with it, so we need to stay up here until we see how high it'll get."

Rachel told Katie, "I don't really understand what he said, but I'm in no hurry to go down the mountain, so we'll see what happens."

An hour later, a 200-foot-high wall of water surged into the cove. It uprooted and carried with it all the trees growing within 100 feet of the cove's shoreline. The tsunami crashed into the far end of the cove, showering the mountainside with spray, and depositing all the broken trees at the far end.

Katie said, "That water didn't get too high up the mountain."

"No, it didn't," Peter said. "Let's hope that was the worst of it."

Peter addressed the group, "It'll probably be tomorrow before the solar wind pushes rocks into earth's atmosphere, so let's use this window of time to repair and fortify our roof against them."

The ground continued to quake, rumble, groan, and vibrate. The community learned to ignore it as being unpleasant, but normal, and not a threat.

Hailstones

Near sunset the next day, the first rocks fell out of the sky. Most were marble sized, but some were large as a baseball. All were potentially deadly, like bullets.

As they listened to meteors striking the forest around them, and occasionally the roof overhead, they watched the sea water in the cove below steadily rising. It peaked about 900 feet up the mountainside. Then, it slowly went down.

The rocky hailstorm lasted two full days, during which the community members didn't venture out. Fortunately, they had plenty of water and food under their log roof. They also had a community latrine bucket, with sawdust to cover deposits, plus soap and a washbasin, in a far corner behind a privacy curtain.

After four days the earthquakes finally stopped. The silence seemed strange.

Two days after the quaking stopped, the sea was back down at its normal level in the cove.

A New World

Everyone started to feel like the micronova crisis was over.

I wonder if this is how Noah’s family felt like after the flood?

Where on the earth are we? Did North America actually move? If so, what does the globe look like now?

Our longhouse and cabins down near sea level surely got destroyed by all the earthquakes and flooding. We'll need to rebuild and get stocked-up for winter, just in case I'm wrong about the Lord coming back this year at Yom Kippur.

That night the sky was full of stars as they enjoyed dinner around the campfire.

Peter said, "I just made a discovery about where we are."

Everyone's ears perked up. "I used to teach Astronomy at the University of Alaska."

He paused, then pointed up.

"Do you see that group of stars? That constellation is the Southern Cross. From the Northern hemisphere, it's rarely visible, even down in Mexico, and then it's very low on the horizon."

"So, that constellation tells me we're now located in the Southern hemisphere. And, that means we'll be entering spring and summer in the next few months instead of autumn and winter."

Wow! We've got about two months to go before Yom Kippur. Will Jesus return then? Will we be caught up to join the armies of heaven at Armageddon?
